Moldova: still trains between Chininau and Odessa?

Hello all,

does anyone know the actual status of trains between Chisinau /
Kishinev and Odessa? I can't find any of them anymore in Hafas (there
used to be trains though) nor Poezda.net. The weird thing is, that when
I search for timetables in Tiraspol (mid-way) in Poezda.net, I find a
couple of trains from Chisinau to Odessa, but not the other way around!
And these trains also don't show up in the train planner.

Any hints?

Thanks a lot.

David

for example? The drop-down option to get that says "Kishineu(Kishinev)"
and appears between Minsk and Riga.

Thanks for the link, but I'm not sure what you are referring to. This
is the departure/arrival schedule of Chisinau, right? I've found this
page before, but can't find information that answers my questions. I
see two trains to Odessa, but none from Odessa to Chisinau.

It seems that train traffic from Ukraine to Moldova has stopped
altogether. For example, there used to be a train from Odessa to
Ivano-Frankovsk via Moldova. It is still running, but now avoids Moldova...

Any indications that my assumption isn't true are most welcome. :-) Is
there regular bus traffic between Odessa and Tiraspol / Chisinau, BTW?

DB Kursbuch Europa (aka Thomas Cook European timetable, June edition)
does list 2.5 trains/day between these two cities.

The Ukrainian Railway timetable lists 3 trains between Odessa and
Chisinau (and back), but all of them are marked with "runs on announcement":
http://www.uz.gov.ua/index.php?m=services.transppl.schedule&f=Schedule.Stan&lng=ru

The Moldovan Railways website seems to be quite up-to-date, and it lists
no trains between Chisinau and Odessa:

The more I search on these timetable site, the less I understand about
it...

Hafas lists a train from Chisinau to Shmerinka, then continuing to
Premszyl, departing 11:50. I can't find this train on Poezda.net
though... but Poezda does list a train from Chisinau to Moscow,
departing 11:50. According to Hafas, this train should depart 11:55....

Which ond would be the more reliable source?

I'm getting into conversation with myself here, but OK. :-)

On Railfaneurope.net I found this text:
Left Moldova (Transnistria), right Ukraine, in the middle the bridge
that connects both railwaynetworks. ŽDM/CFM suspended all trains from 6
March 2006 due to the conflict with Transnistria over the new customs
regime between Moldova and Ukraine.
Passenger trains from Chisinau to Odessa and Ivano Frankovsk are
cancelled, other trains like Chisinau-Moscow are diverted via the
bordercrossing Valcinet (ŽDM/CFM) - Mogilyv Podilskyj (UZ) in the
North-East of Moldova.

That explains a lot. So there are no trains between Chisinau and Odessa
right now.

Then I still got one question left about trains from Chisinau to
Ukraine via the north of Moldova (see my other post).

David

rzd.ru says: no direct trains (for three days, which is the maximum
searchable interval).

Thanks, sounds right as the line towards Transnistria is indeed closed.

What about the direct train from Chisinau to Warsaw? I can find this
one in Hafas and Poezda.net, but if I try to find it in Rzd.ru I always
get the message that "Ekspress-3" is currently unavailible.
"Ekspress-3" works everytime I try another connection though...

It's an iternational through car, that's why Ekspress-3 may have
problems with it. It used to go via Tiraspol and was attached to the
Odessa - Przemysl/Warszawa group of cars. After the Transnistria
blockade it is routed via Ochnita. It goes to Warsaw on even-numbered
days, on odd-numbered only to Przemysl.

the dark-green car is the CFM sleeper Chisinau-Warszawa, then follows
the Odessa-Warszawa UZ sleeper and then PKP cars from Przemysl Glowny.

I read CFM regional & "suburban" passenger service is to be stopped
on 12th this mont, and I guess, for pandemia reasons, there is no international
service at the moment (quite sure concerning from/via Ukraine, not that sure
from Romania).

CFM was said to have failed to pay their employees in a way avoiding delays
of a couple of months. Also, on domestic services, the percentage of non-
railwayman-travellers was said to be low.

To all that, add pandemia.
